Anthony Millard

Anthony Millard is well known in the education sector. Before founding Anthony Millard Consulting in 2004 he was managing director of Nord Anglia’s schools division. This followed headships of two HMC schools and the chairmanship of the Boarding Schools Association.

Early in his career he worked in Zambia and then in Brussels with the European Commission. A graduate of The London School of Economics and Balliol College, Oxford, Anthony is also a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.

As an educational entrepreneur Anthony has built AMC into a leading consultancy for search recruitment and strategic thinking. Its “Dine and Discuss” events, which he chairs, have become pivotal in the educational world.

He was chairman of The British International School of New York for its first decade and is still a governor of Greensteds International School in Kenya’s Rift Valley. He retains a great interest in Africa and lives on the upper Thames in Gloucestershire.

Fiona was thrilled to take on the role of CEO with Anthony Millard Consulting, being attracted by its impressive reputation in recruitment and consultancy, chiming with her own values of integrity and trust.

Throughout her career, initially in research science, then through teaching and headship in a large, secondary school in England, she has had an international focus, working with children, young people and professionals from all parts of the globe. She includes highly successful leadership of a school group including nursery, primary and secondary schools, and the setup of the first ‘space specialism’ school and a reputation for growing and developing leaders in her portfolio of achievements. Many ex-colleagues are now highly successful headteachers themselves.

She has current knowledge and experience at all phases of education and across the range of sizes, and across the breadth of type of school. Fiona brings her own leadership expertise; knowledge gleaned from working across the schools’ sectors, including multi-academy trusts; and experience as an inspector, to bear in supporting school leaders, governing bodies and Boards to meet their strategic goals.

Within AMC, her specialist area is in leadership recruitment to China and the Far East, alongside consultancy with multi-academy trusts in the UK. She is a member and trustee of a large multi-academy trust of over twenty schools in the south west region. She also examines on the Oxford University MSc in Learning and Teaching.

 

Natasha Watson

Natasha has taught for sixteen years in both the UK and Kenya. She has extensive experience in both preparatory and senior schools, from a PE teaching level and as a Key Stage 2 teacher, and also as a Boarding Housemistress in three schools.

Having spent a total of 7 years working and living in Kenya as well as extensive travel and a 3 month exchange programme in South Africa, Natasha has a strong understanding of life in Africa as well as extensive contacts in both East and South Africa. 

In addition to her interests in education and sport Natasha has established a successful business in event and hospitality management. Natasha has been a Director of Anthony Millard Consulting for the past eight years and works full time as Recruitment Manager.

David Pullinger

David has been a non-Executive Director and Associate of Anthony Millard Consulting for over 10 years. In addition to advising the AMC Board on strategy, he provides a psychometric profiling and coaching service for clients. David was Chair of Governors at Padworth College, leading the School through a wide-ranging review of its strategic direction, and advising the Head on a significant culture change programme. David also has senior commercial experience as a Director in Thorn and Legal & General and held senior HR roles in shipping and hotels.

For several years, David was a Careers Adviser at Imperial College Business School where he worked with MBA and Masters students to help them find career opportunities around the world. He has his own management consultancy, Blue Ridge Management Ltd, providing coaching and training services.

Under the auspices of Arts and Business, David advised several arts organisations including the English Chamber Orchestra, Southwark Council and Paddington Arts Centre. He then became a Director of Arts Culture, Harrow and Harrow Museum.

Nikki Naish

Nikki is the Support Manager for AMC Teacher having started her AMC career as an accounts assistant. She also supports the wider AMC team and is the vital link in making sure that everyone is up to speed on projects and assignments across the whole company.

Prior to AMC, Nikki spent 15 years working in sales within the finance and the insurance industry. Working her way up through the ranks to leadership roles, recruiting for her own sales team as well as gaining experience and qualifications in business administration.

Nigel was a school Head for 25 years, initially in the independent sector in the UK as Head of The Royal Wolverhampton Junior School and then Head of Cheltenham College Junior School. Nigel concluded his years as Head first as Principal of The British School of Warsaw and finally as Principal of Compass International School in Doha. Both international Principal posts were with schools operated by Nord Anglia Education.

Nigel is now a Director of Anthony Millard Consulting and divides his time between leadership searches and strategic consultancy to schools around the world for AMC.

Nigel is a former International Schools Inspector for ISI, a COBIS trained Heads’ mentor, a Governor of an international school in Switzerland and a Foundation Fellow of The University of Gloucestershire.

Professor Deborah Eyre

Professor Deborah Eyre is a global educational leader, researcher, writer and influencer focused on helping good schools become world class.

Deborah’s career has included a variety of senior education posts both globally and in UK as well as advising governments and educational foundations in UK, Hong Kong, South Africa, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, USA and Singapore. From 2010-2014 she was Global Education Director for Nord Anglia Education and prior to that served as Director of the UK government’s innovative National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth (NAGTY), based at the University of Warwick. Deborah is a Board member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), a Trustee of the Swan Multi-Academy Trust, a Freeman of the City of London Worshipful Company of Educators and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Nigel has over 20 years experience as a Headmaster in the Independent sector, with experience in the United Kingdom and in International Schools in Europe and the Middle East. His background is in educational management and the business of schools. He has been actively involved in the recruitment of head teachers, in school mergers and in school acquisitions and transfers.

He has experience at every age level from Nursery to Sixth Form, and in small and large schools alike. His philosophy is based on the straightforward principle that a passionate commitment to Education underpinned by a good business model, with clear financial planning and effective management of expenditure and pricing, will lead to good schools.

Nigel believes that the present economic situation will lead many schools to seek innovative business and marketing solutions in order to prosper, and to this end looks to provide “hands on”, supportive, and practical advice and guidance to Heads and Governing Bodies.

Richard has spent 37 years working in schools – 23 of them as Head. He was Head of Chemistry at St. Paul’s Girls’ School in London before moving to Abbey 6th Form College in London as Principal. He founded Portland Place School in central London where he remained as Head until 2011.

Richard is a Governor of a preparatory school in Dorset and an Examiner for A level Chemistry (both UK and International). He has written Chemistry texts for Penguin Books and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Simon was a history teacher in the UK and taught in Japan for two years. He has spent the last 19 years recruiting exceptional teachers and school leaders for the independent sector in the UK and international schools, TEFL projects, government reform programmes and educational organisations across the globe.

He has extensive experience of placing Head teachers and senior staff in some of the leading British and International schools worldwide.

Nicola has significant leadership experience in the UK and international schools market, having coordinated the development of global talent for Nord Anglia Education through creating a suite of leadership programmes for middle, senior and executive leaders.

Nicola was also responsible for assessing the quality of high performing independent schools across the globe and supporting leaders in recruiting high quality staff.In addition to this, Nicola has significant experience of UK state school headship and has had roles in both Voluntary Controlled and Voluntary Aided Church Schools.

Having experience within an Academy Trust Board ensures that Nicola understands the importance of identifying leaders who demonstrate both educational and commercial acumen.

Nicola believes passionately in developing ambitious leaders for the future and is involved with Tribal Group strategic developments across the world and through her work with Professor Deborah Eyre’s High Performance Learning.

Lady Ann Collins has been a Governor of a number of schools both in the UK and abroad. In addition, she has been involved in the selection process to appoint new Heads and Deputy Heads for British international schools and preparatory schools in the UK.

As the spouse of a retired senior British diplomat she has lived extensively overseas in Asia, Africa and America and, with three children, has been very involved in school life in several British schools overseas both as a Governor and a parent.

Jeff joined AMC as part time Support Officer and works alongside Nikki on all aspects of administration required in the business. Jeff has spent all his previous working life in Steelwork construction becoming a senior manager with responsibility for contact management and labour allocation.

John Light joined the education field after several years in industry and a year at Manchester Business School.  He has been a Headteacher for 22 years, leading schools in England and Scotland, in Europe, the Middle East and most recently, in the Caucasus.

Jo has extensive experience of working in a wide range of schools including independent, comprehensive and grammar. Following five successful years as headteacher of an outstanding secondary school, Jo spent eleven years as Director of Education in a large local authority with high academic performance. Jo was responsible for all aspects of education including early years, school admissions, place planning, intervention in schools of concern, special educational needs, school improvement, headteacher recruitment, leadership support and governance. She has wide experience of working closely with the DfE, Ofsted and Multi-Academy Trusts.

Jo has been a governor in primary, special and secondary schools and academies, and is currently Chair of Governors of a newly opened Church of England Primary Academy. She is a member of a Diocesan Board of Education.

Throughout her career, Jo has been involved in developing and delivering professional development at national and local level. Four years ago she qualified as an Executive Coach and Leadership Mentor and is passionate about the empowering impact of coaching. She is committed to enhancing opportunities for all children and young people through recruitment and support of highly effective school leaders.

Through AMC Families, we provide advice on school choice and university admissions; facilitate private tutoring; and arrange guardianship.

We recognise the importance of maintaining close client relationships throughout the duration of an assignment and beyond. It is in forming these partnerships that we are able to understand fully the complexities of each individual assignment and to respond with a bespoke solution. We do not believe in the ‘one size fits all’ approach.
