SECOND MASTER/DIRECTOR OF STUDIES, English School of Mongolia Ulaanbaatar
'Non scholae, sed vitae discimus'
We teach and learn not just at school, but for life itself.
Appointment for September 2012
Coeducational Day School | 600 students | Grade 1 to Grade 11
The English School of Mongolia (ESM) is one of the oldest independent schools in Ulaanbaatar and occupies a spacious site central to the capital city of Mongolia. Historically the school has delivered a Russian Programme of education. Increasingly classes are now studying an English Curriculum and moving to a syllabus that very much reflects that delivered in the UK and taught by Native English Speaking teachers.
It believes that the future lies in the provision of an education that is genuinely English in style and substance. The Director wishes to embed the English educational tradition in the school by delivering the International Baccalaureate and seeks to appoint an experienced, inspirational individual, well practised in flexible teaching techniques and capable of leading the development of this aspect of the new curriculum. The appointment will be critical to the strategic development of the school and its' ability to produce students who are questioning, intellectually alert, leading players in a team and ice-breakers rather than consolidators.
The Second Master/Director of Studies will be the effective number two in the senior leadership team, a person of energy, enthusiasm and with a sense of humour, someone passionate and ambitious about the success of the school. Successful applicants will lead the introduction of the International Baccalaureate programme or Cambridge 'A' levels as the age range of students extends in the future (to age 18 years). They will be strong professional practitioners and be expected to have and maintain current knowledge of trends and developments in relevant educational areas to ensure that the school remains at the forefront of educational provision in the future.
To a suitable candidate the post offers an opportunity to lead a new initiative in this growing school and a chance to experience the adventure of living in this culturally rich and exciting part of the world.
