The ISC 2009 Annual Conference, June 2009
AMC was delighted to attend the two day conference organised by ISC, attended by hundreds of Heads and reported widely in the UK and international media. We met colleagues, Heads who we had appointed recently and were commissioned with a number of interesting and high profile assignments. We shared a stand with our associates at Eteach.com who spoke to a number of interested schools about their teacher recruitment service.

The BSA Deputy Heads’ Conference
Chesford Grange, near Kenilworth, was the venue for this year’s Boarding Schools’ Association conference for Deputy Heads. AMC were privileged to be among the few exhibitors invited to attend.
Fergus Livingstone, of Rossall School, was in the Chair, in what will be his last appearance for BSA as a Deputy Head. From September, he will be Head of Lord Wandsworth’s College, in Hampshire, a prestigious appointment handled by AMC.
Fergus’ guest after-dinner speaker was Stephen Winkley, Head of Rossall School, whose dry humour and wit was much appreciated by the 100+ delegates. Stephen was also recruited by AMC to his current position.
The delegates at the conference, which was titled ‘Transitions’, were exhorted by Dr Nick Baylis to embrace the concepts of ‘well-being’ and positive psychology in their lives, eschewing the Friday night bottle of wine and TV, in favour of playing football.
Nick was the person who helped Dr Anthony Seldon introduce ‘The Skills of Well-being’ to Wellington College.
Conference delegates enjoyed several sessions, bringing them up to date with the new ISI inspection regime, employment law, changes in the Child Protection protocols and so on. As usual, there were excellent opportunities for networking, and Anthony and Hylary were delighted to meet so many ambitious and talented professionals.

AMC supports recruitment needs of British Schools across the Middle East
Over 100 Principals, Heads and Senior Teachers from across the Arab world gathered together in January for the annual British Schools in the Middle East Conference (BSME) in Cyprus.
One of the major themes of the conference was on current issues and developments in leadership and developing teams. Anthony Millard Consulting is an Associate member of BSME and was involved in career coaching for delegates, advising heads on teacher recruitment and planning executive search campaigns with a number of schools.
This was the first time that AMC has taken part in this event, but will certainly be a key feature of the calendar. The annual conference for 2010 will be in London.
Pictured here are the AMC representatives, Albert Hudspeth and Mark Brooks with the other delegates and Associates members.
