Dine & Discuss

AMC Dine and Discuss has an important place in the word of educational ideas and debate. Now in its eighth year D&D is a confidential conversation over dinner at which prominent educationalists, politicians and business leaders lead debate on issues ranging from cutting edge ideas on the curriculum to the role that education plays in social mobility.

Speakers have included Sir Anthony Seldon, Lord Lucas and Neil Carmichael, former chairman of the Commons Education Committee, and Eve Jardine-Young, Principal of Cheltenham Ladies College. Numbers are limited to twenty-five and the evening is carefully steered by Anthony Millard whose own career has spanned education, business and politics.

Report from Thursday 9th November – With Professor Joe Nellis

An excellent evening was had, with Joe Nellis’ clarity and experience being used to full effect in engendering a deep and intense discussion across the dinner table Colleagues from all sectors of education attended to hear Joe’s take on the state of the economy both in the UK and world-wide, and the likely trends. Despite some uncharacteristically gloomy moments – world resources running out and their impact; debt levels for our children and their children; global influence waning …..the evening ended with an optimistic note that we must all work fully together – across generations and across national boundaries, as far as possible, for an economically sustainable future for us all.

Anthony. What a wonderful evening last night’s dinner was. Your address book must be one of the best there is! Everyone I had a conversation with was so interesting and we discussed matters of real worth and relevance to our different roles.

I greatly enjoyed Richard’s talk and the discussions which followed.

Thank you so much for including me and your very generous remarks.
