What a start to the new school year! Last week we welcomed Neil Carmichael MP to speak at Dine & Discuss. Neil is chairman of the Commons Education Committee and an old friend from my political past. I am also delighted to announce that the AMC Board has welcomed Professor Deborah Eyre as Chief Education Advisor. She will be helping us with her well-known thoughts on Leadership and Learning. Deborah has been a friend of AMC for some time and many of you will have heard her speak at conferences as well as reading her pace-setting book “High Performance Learning”. Deborah was until recently Education Director for Nord Anglia Education and before that was Director of the UK National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth. She has mentored a large number of heads and will provide invaluable insight and experience in contributing to future AMC activities. Another addition to the team is Nicola Morris who has joined us as an Associate Consultant. Nicola is an experienced primary head who in recent years has worked in school improvement and leadership development for Nord Anglia among others. Other changes at the start of the new school year are the promotion of Richard Walker as Strategic Director and Simon Dweck as Recruitment Director. Natasha Watson, who has been a board member for several years, is taking on the role of Recruitment Manager and will be working alongside Nikki Naish, our very capable Support Manager. Natasha will be co-ordinating and supporting the work of the recruitment directors and will also be taking AMC’s first steps towards establishing an international teacher recruitment business. She, herself, has taught in Kenya as well as the UK. So AMC is primed for a year of High Performance with some major appointments about to be advertised and an ever-growing number of strategic consultancy assignments
