School Leaders Need a Spring in Their Step

The Covid-19 pandemic has provided challenges that every school leader across the globe has had to grapple with over the past 12 months. From supporting senior staff who have been under enormous pressure; ensuring a rapid shift to a successful online learning programme; securing pupil numbers whilst trying to keep admissions buoyant; not forgetting the crucial communications with the current pupil and parent body, as well as strategic meetings with governors; the challenges have been endless.

Looking ahead to the post-pandemic era, school leaders need a spring in their step! Easier said than done, possibly, and it is vital that school leaders have a supportive governing body, staff body, and parent body. Many pupils need to be re-motivated to learn and re-engage with school life and all the opportunities that physically being at school brings.

Whilst the crisis is not over yet, school leaders who demonstrate positivity combined with proactivity, will keep their school thriving. The spring in the step will allow for strategic ideas and actions to take place, and what better time to do this than as we enter the summer term!
