Those lazy, hazy days of summer are finally floating mirage-like into view on the calendar.
Another academic year in the northern hemisphere comes to an end for Universities, schools, lecturers, teachers, and students of all ages.
Now the summer vacation is a time to recharge and refresh. As the holiday begins the school time body clock takes time to adjust. The professional brain continues to process myriads of tasks that have enabled their students achieve their best.
The teacher’s expertise goes with their student into their future. The teacher must now find a way to recapture that energy to give it all over again in September.
And for pupils and parents who are experiencing endings, that energy is also reallocated to new beginnings from next term.
Year 8 and Year 13 pupils particularly, finishing prep and senior school, have endured a wholly different educational experience to most other age groups of their generation. Adages such as “The end of an era”, are closely followed by “the new chapter ahead” for these young people and their families. There are of course mixed emotions of sadness, nostalgia, excitement, trepidation and anticipation.
At AMC we have worked with a number of schools during this academic year, supporting the recruitment search and selection process for newly appointed Heads in many parts of the world who will begin their new chapters in August/September. We warmly wish them and all of you a happy and enjoyable ending, a restorative holiday, and an exciting beginning ahead.
